Job Description:

Overview: Alban CAT, the Caterpillar dealer for the mid-Atlantic region is accepting applications for a Welder II in our Winchester branch.

Responsibilities: The Welder II is responsible for welding, boring, fabricating, retrofitting, and repairing metals and other weldable materials by applying appropriate welding techniques in the field and shop sites; develops creative solutions to unique situations. Perform welding of metal objects with assistance of welding torches and equipment. Review welding job and determine proper method required to resolve the issue and appropriate materials needed. Create blueprints, stencils and sketches to fabricate, retrofit, or repair metal parts. Interpret specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine appropriate welding process. Build up material with wire fed welder or stick welder. Develop creative solutions to unique or complex issues. Manage welding work and ensure compliance to all specifications to ensure work is defect free. Inspect completed welds to determine structural soundness. Ensure clean weld joint to obtain smooth look. Maintain equipment used and perform all cleaning and grinding of metals. Operate various manual and automated welding equipment for welding work. Assemble all components with help of power and hand tools.

Qualifications: Experience welding and machining with portable machines, and fabricating on heavy construction equipment. Experience using lathes, vertical and horizontal mills. Board Certified in structural welding horizontal, vertical and overhead. Must be able to read micrometers, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine appropriate welding process. Good driving record. Must have good trouble shooting skills. Must have good customer service skills. Must be familiar with standard welding concepts, practices, and procedures. Must have tools related to welding and machining trade. Must be able to operate forklifts, overhead cranes and earthmoving equipment preferred. Must be able to use power and hand tools. Must have valid driver's license.
