SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
We are looking for an Associate Systems Director to provide West Coast Aerospace Program Office leadership to the Directorate H in the area of spacecraft systems engineering, acquisition and development. In this position the Associate Systems Director will regularly coordinate with Directorate H's Chief Engineer, Space Vehicle (SV)-level program office customers, the development contractors and West/East Coast Directors in the day-to-day management of the Aerospace's support to multiple contracts in multiple phases (risk reduction, class B technology demonstrations, operational space mission and on-orbit support). Active leadership of interdisciplinary teams comprised of customer, Aerospace, and contractor personnel, is essential to the program's and candidate's success. Additionally, the successful candidate will apply an emphasis to overseeing Directorate H's activities to the application of the staff's furthering of the corporate initiatives.
Support to the Space Vehicle and Payload Engineering branches of the customer organization Technical and programmatic assessments (e.g., technical risk, budget issues, and schedule issues) will be required Leadership of the staff's application to Corporate imperatives and relevant mandates Must provide technical leadership and management of Aerospace engineering resources in support of these duties A balance between first-person technical works and effective technical management of Dir-H and Engineering Technology Group (ETG) staff is essential to successful execution of the program office role Frequent interaction with contractor, customer, and Aerospace personnel Minimal travel to support mission objectivess
Must have at a minimum a bachelor of science in science, engineering or an appropriate discipline from an accredited university
Demonstrated ability to build and lead diverse teams comprised of Aerospace, contractor, SETA and customer personnel Demonstrated ability to develop and communicate sometimes complex solutions and recommendations to high-level customer, contractor, and Aerospace leadership Ability to balance technical recommendations with broader programmatic considerations for sound programmatic recommendations Must be customer-oriented and have excellent oral and written communications skills Current and active TS/SSBI
12 or more years of progressively responsible professional engineering/scientific experience Experience with National Security Space (NSS) and the associated missions Experience in space system acquisition Advanced degree in science, engineering or an appropriate discipline from an accredited university
