SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Aerospace is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our growing Software Systems and Acquisition Department, the corporation's East Coast center of excellence for software acquisition and software systems engineering.
Provide software systems engineering support to customers through pre-acquisition planning, source selection, design reviews, integration and test, and early operational testing. Support acquisition of software reliant systems to include development of acquisition strategies, development of request for proposal packages, and participation in source selections. Lead engineering studies such as software requirements development and flow; software integration, verification, and validation; readiness reviews; risk and opportunity identification, assessment, and mitigation; technology planning and insertion; performance assessments; software architecture assessments; and/or market research. Lead development of software architecture models to space, ground, and launch programs in the national security, civil, and commercial domains. Develop and interpret metrics for tracking success of software projects. Analyze software/IT policies; assess compliance with standards, practices, and instructions. Develop enterprise IT strategies and architectures. Prepare technical reports and presentations to disseminate findings, guidance, and technical information to a wide audience. This position is located in Chantilly, Virginia.
Bachelor's degree in in Computer Science, Engineering, or an appropriate technical discipline from a recognized institution
A minimum of 12 years of significant experience in the development of complex, software-reliant systems, including architecture modeling. Demonstrated technical background in software engineering across the lifecycle from inception through design, construction, testing, and deployment. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a collaborative environment. Familiarity with one or more Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) models. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to manage multiple simultaneous tasks and adapt to changing priorities. Ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI clearance. Security clearances are issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance
Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or closely related technical discipline. Demonstrated experience working toward the acquisition of software-reliant systems (as an acquirer or a supplier). Demonstrated knowledge of the federal acquisition system. Demonstrated experience on critical, large scale, large team software-reliant systems for space. Demonstrated knowledge of the space enterprise. Demonstrated experience in software/IT acquisition planning and RFP preparation; lifecycle software management; source code analysis (static and/or dynamic), model-based systems/software engineering, software architecture analysis, and/or software metrics. Demonstrated knowledge of Agile software development techniques. Active TS/SCI clearance.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will typically work in an office environment. Position requires sitting most of the time at a workstation, using a computer. Exposure to general office noise Local travel to off-site meetings and air travel to Aerospace or Customer office locations is required. Ability to communicate with individuals and groups in person, by phone, and by telepresence.
