SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The Space Vehicle Department supports the design and acquisition of a complex national security electro-optical spacecraft. We are looking for a Lead Space Vehicle Mechanical Engineer/Sr. Lead Space Vehicle Mechanical Engineer to coordinate mechanical engineering support for the manufacture, integration, test, and anomaly resolution for this high priority space system.
Lead support across a broad spectrum of technical areas including spacecraft structural and mechanical hardware design, manufacture, integration, and test activities on the program. Lead teams to provide mechanical, thermal and dynamic loads investigations and design assessments. Lead Aerospace support for space vehicle level assembly, test, and launch operations and anomaly resolution support. Effectively select and guide appropriate engineering matrix resources to address these tasks and provide independent verification and validation efforts by leveraging personal knowledge through supporting subject matter experts Provide integrated advice based on these efforts to the spacecraft bus and payload customer leads. Generate periodic written reports and presentations to customer and Aerospace management. Support close and frequent interaction with government customer, SETA, and contractor personnel. Travel to other Aerospace and contractor facilities through CONUS will be required at least one week per month.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or an appropriate technical discipline from a recognized institution
For the Space Vehicle Mechanical Engineering Leader
A minimum of 8 years of relevant engineering experience Experience in any of the following: Spacecraft assembly Spacecraft test Launch operations Space vehicle anomaly resolution Ability to lead and coordinate the activities of teams of technical staff Must show initiative and leadership and require minimal management oversight. Ability to work closely and cooperatively with contractor personnel. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Must have a current TS/SSBI Must be able to travel at least one week per month. This position requires the ability to maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
For the Senior Space Vehicle Mechanical Engineering Leader
A minimum of 12 years of relevant engineering experience. Experience in more than two of the following: Spacecraft assembly Spacecraft test Launch operations Space vehicle anomaly resolution. Ability to lead and coordinate the activities of teams of technical staff in the development and independent verification and validation of complex space systems hardware Experience providing direct engineering support to the development of space hardware Must show initiative and leadership and require minimal management oversight. Ability to work closely and cooperatively with contractor personnel. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Must have a current TS/SSBI Must be able to travel at least one week per month. This position requires the ability to maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
Advanced degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field Experience in the architecture, development, documentation, and testing of space mechanical systems and structures Prior experience providing direct engineering support to the development of space hardware (Required for Sr. Mechanical Engineering leader) Experience in all of the following: Spacecraft assembly Spacecraft test Launch operations Space vehicle anomaly resolution. Effective systems engineering and analysis skills to identify problems, develop solutions and assess risk.
