Support Service, Mail & Print Operator I
PenFed is hiring a Support Service, Mail & Print Operator I in our office in Chantilly, VA. The primary purpose of this job is to perform a variety of complex duties including, but not limited to, setting up and operating equipment in the preparation of materials for printing, mailing and shipping, ensuring items are processed within established guidelines and timeframes. In addition, the incumbent performs duties in the Data Center including, but not limited to, the printing, tracking and distribution of stock reports, checks, draft and statements.

Prepare, adjust, load and operate machinery to fold, insert, seal and meter postage for the mailing of materials to members and other organizations.
Operate a bursting machine to separate materials received from the Data Center including, but not limited to, member statements and delinquency notices, pin mailers, security codes, etc.
Process statement mailings, to include proper sorting, according to computer generated reports to allow for greatest discount.
Accurately prepare Mailing Statements for submission to US Post Office for correct allocation of monies for various discounts.
Process outgoing mail, including packages using the PC accounting system to accurately charge back postage cost to the various cost centers and affixing correct postage to each item.
Update the UPS CompleteView System based tracking system for all packages sent to branches and members.
Remain current on postal zones, mail rates and post office regulations and requirements.
Receive and examine all materials from within PenFed to be delivered by contracted couriers and vendors to ensure proper addressing and destination. Insures that all materials are picked up by respective couriers within established time parameters.
Notify Manager of department needs including, equipment repairs, supplies, and postage meter refills
Perform routine maintenance to equipment including, but not limited to, cleaning, lubrication and identification of parts which need replacement.
Secure work area before leaving each day.
Provide guidance and training to less experienced staff members.
Trained and experienced on Hogan mainframe, and the operation on IBM 4000 continuous form printer for the production of statements and other correspondence, IBM 6400 continuous forms for the printing of checks, and other multitude of forms.
Ensure quality printing of all stock report, checks, deposit advice, loan drafts and statements using the proper alignment and printer procedures.
Distribute and log all stock reports and special forms to the proper departments and coordinates the reprinting of missing or damaged reports/forms.
The incumbent will also be picking mail up at the USPS, and as well as branches and service centers in the DC Metro Area.

Education and Experience
Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.
High School diploma or a combination of education and experience that provide the necessary skills and knowledge to satisfactorily perform the essential job functions.
One-year (1) work experience, preferably in mailing and shipping, required. .
Knowledge of CASS Certification mail, postal requirements, zones and rates preferred.
Must have valid driver's license and no registered violations on driving record for past 2 years
This position will not supervise employees.
Licenses and Certifications
There are no additional certifications required.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise.
* Most roles require working in an office setting with moderate noise and the ability to lift 25 pounds.*
Limited travel to various worksites is required.
