ARServices is seeking a Power Engineer - Infrastructure Resiliance - to provide Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) to The Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), Nuclear Effects Division. This position supports DoD efforts to improve U.S. capability to analyze the consequences of nuclear weapons effects for decision making.
Provide subject matter expertise on effects to energy sector based infrastructure systems due to nuclear weapons Advise on current and future research and development for understanding nuclear weapon effects on large-scale energy infrastructure networks, for example electrical and gas Analyze technical approaches to meeting operational requirements for nuclear effects planning and filling capability gaps, and develop research strategy to close these gaps Present scientific and engineering principles supporting proposed research and development Support development of program plans for nuclear effects planning technology areas Coordinate with other government agencies and contractors in order to leverage ongoing efforts Participate in interagency meetings; lead meetings as required Provide acquisition support by writing statements of work, evaluating proposals, and monitoring contractor performance Actively engage and assist with the Nuclear Effects Division research performed by national labs, academia, and industry Provide technical advice to other related programs inside and, when appropriate, outside the Division Respond to interagency, DoD, and DTRA taskers and assist the Nuclear Effects Division Chief with programmatics and administration as needed Assist the government in aligning the Division portfolio for rapid transition of emerging tools and analytical capabilities to key end-users Requirements
A secret clearance and the ability to obtain SCI access A Master's Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, with focus on power transmission, demand, and component damage Nine (9) years of relevant experience, including modeling and simulation experience Proven ability to translate requirements and observations into clearly defined written products (briefings, reports, White Papers) in short timeframes Ability to complete work with minimum guidance and supervision Excellent interpersonal communication skills Familiarity with the DoD acquisition process Fluency using personal computer and standard office automation systems (e.g., Microsoft Office) Ability to travel (10% to 25%) Desired Qualifications
Professional Engineer preferred Experience working with DoD, other Federal Agencies, Industry, and National Laboratories Demonstrated experience in managing complex technical projects and/or programs Familiarity with the nuclear effects and the key aspects of the coupling of nuclear effects to human behavior is strongly desired Knowledge of nuclear weapon effects, nuclear planning processes and policies, and Services' and Agencies' operational consequence analysis needs Top Secret clearance
