ARServices is seeking a Communication Assistant to support the Corporate Communications Division (Code 103), at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD). Code 103 provides strategic counsel, planning and execution of internal and external communication for NSWCDD, and is responsible for informing, promoting and marketing the successes of NSWCDD, as well as the 8,000-member workforce, local community leaders, elected officials, Program Executive Offices, and other Navy and DoD stakeholders.
Provide communication engagement support for engagement events, including development of messages to align NSWCDD initiatives Support the development of the NSWCDD strategic communications plan Support programs in the area of media relations, community relations, and special events Plan and oversee the execution of meetings and special events to include distinguished visitors, historic milestones, anniversaries, and community events Coordinate transportation, multimedia and visual information support, amenities, accommodations, site surveys, and event design while following military traditions and protocol Support the development of content to be displayed on a network of up to 20 government-furnished video screens and central Digital Signage Scheduling and tracking of digital signage content, and ensure signage meets requirements for safety, diversity observances, and holidays Manage and track created content and provide weekly and monthly tracking updates Provide photography support for 300-400 events each year, capturing photographs in journalistic style. Properly crop, edit and caption photographs with appropriate Visual Information Reference Identification Numbers according to Navy style guidelines Support the development of internal and external communications products, including print and online products, social media presence, and digital signage Requirements
Bachelor's degree in communications field, public relations, or marketing AND two (2) years of related experience OR: This requirement may be substituted with six (6) years of relevant experience in public relations, public affairs, or journalism related, with experience in research, conducting interviews, writing, editing, and obtaining release/approval for articles, feature stories, news releases, and statements Active secret security clearance and ability to maintain Proven ability to support employee communication programs and products, media relations programs, community relations, special events, and to provide photography support Experience with Newport Enterprise Realtime Development Server (NERDS) Experience with Adobe Creative Suite 6 Production Premium, MS Office Professional, AVS Video Converter, and Snagit10 screen capture software ARServices is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce, including protected veterans and individuals with disabilities.
